Automated Service

Hello readers of Jayne’s blog. Jayne would like to apologise for her absence, which she blames on a spongy home computer. Usual fixes of defragging, masking tape, a swift kick, imploring to the sky, and The Slow Silent Wail of Despair are no longer working. All the home PC (computer, not policeman) can do at the moment is open Word, and occasionally it unleashes Jayne on Twitter. Sometimes she can open other websites, and when that happens her joy is unconfined, until Blogger crashes and joy is once again locked away in a deep dark box.

However, there is a small glimmer of shining hope on the horizon, and this is called Payday. Payday (sing it like a gospel choir - Oh Glorious Day!) will mean funds for a new computer, and then this Giant Heap of Sticklebricks Jayne types upon can be laid to rest. It would work so much better as an ornament. Or perhaps a cat perch.

Until then, you may see Jayne having a Tweet. Her twitter ID is here – do say hello and sympathise on Computer Woe. (Kraftwerk had it all wrong – it’s not Love at all.)

From, Jayne’s Blog.

This automated service comes to you direct from Jayne’s Work Computer while Jayne is studiously and diligently working very, very hard.

Hi Jayne

I've missed your blogs recently. Tell boss that as you are such a diligent worker that you need an immediate bonus payment to ensure your swift return to blogland.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, John von Neumann is the one to blame, since it is his design upon which all PCs are based. You may then curse IBM for adopting his ideas and finally Microsoft for providing you with the partially tested software layered on this gimcrack thing we call a computer.
One day something will come along which is as advanced to the computer, as the CD is to the wax cylinder and all will be well. Meanwhile we have to put up with the tools we have.

Get well soon, computer! It's probably the shock of the hot weather that's done for it :)

Oh course catching up on blogger at work is so work-related!! It's expanding essential networking contacts and promoting good relations and communication back up systems. And I'm sticking to these excuses. Ahem!

Anyway!!!! As I think Twitter is the work of Beelzebub, I too shall rejoice when you return to blogging!! Yay!! Take care

oh dear... computer woe is the worst... I just wrote about a podcast of the talk we went to that we couldn't really hear from the back... if you want to hear it properly!

hope you're at least taking the time to read some books and chill out while you are offline

We were worried, Jayne, and hugely relieved now to see this profoundly work-related post coming from your work computer. May we go over the sales forecast together after elevenses?

First, Mise is a very funny woman. (see her comment below (or does it appear above/)

Second, computer difficulties are the worst; I think road rage actually has increased over the last few years/decades as a direct result of frustrations with computers. you have all our Most Sincere Condolences on the time-warping, mind-boggling, hair-raising craziness of fixing computer foul-ups of ANY kind. Satan's imps are at work in computers, that is my profound belief.

Third, I've forgotten the third thing so it must be time for a break.

So, has payday arrived?

Been there! Lost half of my hair with the frustration. Bought myself a new evil machine. Btw, I am curious. You said you were going to send your manuscript at the end of June. Did you pluck up your courage?

Pay day! Yes, I had that today. A great day :-) If I was on Twitter I'd follow you.

Shame! Computer problems are incredibly frustrating. I hope that you're backing up your work often. Just in case.

See you when you're back!

Thanks for your comments!

LA Speedwing - no, I didn't. I decided it needs a bit more work and then completely changed it, so now it needs lots more work! I'll blog about it soon, but I am now thinking September is more likely. Thanks for asking!
